  19.         If you have been a user of BEC and engaged in file transfers, you must 
  20. read this BULLETIN because of the changes we have made in the external 
  21. protocols we use here at BEC.
  22.  
  23.         After reading this, you will want to go to the {C1UTILITIES{C2 section
  24. and verify your {C1F)ile Protocol{C2 setting.
  25.  
  26. {C2     We now offer 23 different file protocols for our users.  Of the 23 
  27. protocols offered, 10 of those offer 'Batch' file transfer.
  28.  
  29.         To use some of the protocols we offer will require a minimal amount of 
  30. work on our users part by downloading BECPROTO.PAK which includes this 
  31. document, SUPERK.COM, and JBATCH.COM.  Users will have to make some batch 
  32. files for communications programs to use. (see batch file info at the end of 
  33. this document)

  35.         The protocols marked with an asterisk (*) below require no changes 
  36. from old batch files....in other words.....the protocol choice "D" for 
  37. "WXmodem - Single" requires no change from the original "WXmodem" batch file 
  38. you may have been using -- even though we now prefer the SUPERK.COM to run it 
  39. with.  Choice "G" for "Jmodem 8K - Single" can be used with your JMODEM.COM 
  40. batch file -- even though we are using JBATCH.COM.  And of course, we still 
  41. offer the old standby "RBBS-PC Internal Protocols" of "Xmodem" and "Ymodem".
  42. "Zmodem" has not changed except for the fact that we offer "Zmodem - Single" 
  43. and "Zmodem - Batch" now.
  44.  
  45.         By now, you are probably asking "What the heck is SUPERK and JBATCH?".
  46.  
  47.         "SUPERK" and "JBATCH" are shareware offered by Crater Rim Software.  
  48. {C2Their protocols offer 7 single and 7 batch modes of transfer between the two.
  49.  
  50.         Not being one to sit in the shadows and wait for changes, I sometimes 
  51. instigate change for technologic advancement purposes.  I feel that our 
  52. offering on external protocols will rival the very best you will find anywhere.
  53.  
  54.         For those of you unfamiliar with 'batch' file transfers, you will 
  55. praise the day that you discovered them if you like to download or upload more 
  56. than one file in a single operation.  For example, if you were to ask for a 
  57. download from BEC BBS....normally when our system asks for the name of the 
  58. file you want to download, you would enter one file name and download it.  
  59. With 'batch' transfers, when the system asks for the name of the file to 
  60. download (or upload), you simply type more than one file name separated by a 
  61. space.....such as:  FILE1.ARC FILE2.ARC FILE3.ARC .....etc.  The system will 
  62. download (or upload) all three as a single transaction (provided you have not 
  63. chosen files totalling more than your daily allowance of downloads, or, the 
  64. downloads will not take more time than you are allowed in the system....in 
  65. either case, the system will come back and tell you if there is a problem).

  186.         To configure JBATCH.COM or SUPERK.COM to your liking, type "JBATCH @" 
  187. or "SUPERK @" at the prompt.....you will be presented with a menu of choices.
  188. With "SUPERK", you can even rearrange colors.

  190.         Hopefully, this information will be of benefit to you our user and 
  191. you will be able to better utilize the BEC BBS file system.

  193.         If you share this information with other users, we ask that you 
  194. transfer this file intact with BULLET15, SUPERK.COM, JBATCH.COM, & MLINK11.COM 
  195. files.

  197.         The PROTO.DEF file included with BECPROTO.PAK is for RBBS-PC 17-1C
  198. SYSOPS to use with the RBBS-PC program and supports the transfer protocols 
  199. included herein.
